How the calculation works
All project areas are combined. The total area is divided by one paver’s face area, then waste is applied and the purchase quantity is rounded up.
Formula
Total area = area 1 + area 2 + … One paver area = length × width Purchase quantity = total area ÷ paver area × (1 + waste % ÷ 100), rounded up
Worked example
A 120 ft² patio using 12 in × 6 in pavers needs 240 pavers before waste. With 10% waste, the purchase estimate is 264 pavers.

- Patterns, borders, curves, and cuts can change waste needs.
- Base, edging, sand, labor, and prices are not included.
