How the calculation works
The combined lawn area is multiplied by the application rate you provide. US mode uses pounds per 1,000 square feet; metric mode uses kilograms per 100 square meters.
Formula
US seed weight = area ÷ 1,000 × lb per 1,000 ft² Metric seed weight = area ÷ 100 × kg per 100 m²
Worked example
A 2,500 square foot lawn at an entered rate of 6 pounds per 1,000 square feet requires 15 pounds, or about 6.8 kilograms, of seed.
