How the calculation works
Rectangular lawn areas are combined, then the selected waste percentage is applied to the total coverage area.
Formula
Measured lawn area = Σ(length × width) Sod coverage area = measured area × (1 + waste % ÷ 100)
Worked example
Two lawn sections measuring 30 ft × 20 ft and 10 ft × 10 ft total 700 square feet. With 5% waste, plan for 735 square feet of sod coverage.
