How the calculation works
Measured room areas are combined before the selected waste percentage is added. The result remains an area so it can be matched to the packaging or ordering method of the chosen flooring.
Formula
Measured area = Σ(length × width) Purchase area = measured area × (1 + waste % ÷ 100)
Worked example
Rooms measuring 12 ft × 10 ft and 10 ft × 10 ft total 220 square feet. With 10% waste, the purchase area is 242 square feet, or about 22.48 square meters.
