How the calculation works
This material-neutral tool calculates one rectangular prism or vertical circular cylinder from measured geometry. It does not add waste or make soil-product assumptions.
Formula
Rectangle volume = length × width × depth Circle volume = π × (diameter ÷ 2)² × depth
Worked example
An 8 ft × 4 ft bed filled 6 in deep contains 16 cubic feet, about 0.59 cubic yards, 0.45 cubic meters, or 453 liters.
