How the calculation works
The calculator multiplies each rectangular area by its depth, combines the volumes, and then applies the selected waste allowance. It reports volume only because gravel weight depends on material density and moisture.
Formula
Section volume = length × width × depth Adjusted volume = combined volume × (1 + waste % ÷ 100) Cubic yards = cubic feet ÷ 27
Worked example
A 10 ft × 5 ft area at 6 in deep contains 25 cubic feet. With 10% waste, the planning volume is 27.5 cubic feet, or about 1.02 cubic yards.
