How the calculation works

The calculator treats each driveway section as a rectangular prism, combines the section volumes, and applies waste to the total. It also reports the combined surface area.

Formula

Section volume = length × width × thickness
Total volume = section 1 + section 2 + …
Cubic yards = adjusted cubic feet ÷ 27

Worked example

A 20 ft × 10 ft driveway section at 4 in thick contains 66.67 cubic feet. With 10% waste, it requires about 2.72 cubic yards.
